The Debate League 2024 of the University of Castilla-La Mancha

Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries. Students of the University of Castilla-La Mancha enrolled in official degrees (degree, master's or doctorate) valid throughout the national territory, in the 2023/2024 academic year, may participate in this call. To this end, students belonging to the Erasmus and Sicue mobility programs may also participate. The members of the admitted teams who are students assigned to other universities and who carry out temporary stays at the UCLM under national programs will be considered beneficiaries of the academic rights generated by their participation, as well as the financial prizes they may obtain. Second. Object. Financial aid is provided to reward the winning teams of the UCLM 2024 Debate League that will be held on all its campuses in order to encourage dialogue and the confrontation of ideas in public among University students, as an exercise in coexistence and development of personal skills in information search, analysis, oral expression, listening skills, teamwork and speed of response. This league will have a first eliminatory phase on each campus (Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo) that will take place during the week of February 26, 2024. The teams from the Talavera de la Reina university headquarters will debate together with those from the Toledo campus and those from the Almadén university headquarters together with those from the Ciudad Real campus. The winning teams in each campus will face each other in the intercampus final phase. Each debate team will be made up of a minimum of three people and a maximum of five. No one may belong to more than one team throughout the competition. The topic of debate will be: Will artificial intelligence make teachers obsolete? Third. Regulatory bases. Regulatory bases that form part of the full text of the call. Room. Amount of aid. The budget for this call amounts to 3,250 euros. The gross amount of the prizes is as follows: - Final phase per campus: First prize: €375 for the team; Second prize: €250 for the team. - UCLM intercampus final phase: First prize: €750 for the team. Fifth. Application submission deadline. The registration period will end on February 22, 2024 (11:59 p.m.).
