APPROVAL OF RULES XXV SANT JOAN D’ALACANT FILM FESTIVAL. CALL

Official description of the call

FIRST. -OBJECT. The object of these rules is the regulation of the XXV edition of the Sant Joan D'Alacant Film Festival, organized by the Viridiana Audiovisual Cultural Association and the Most Excellent Sant Joan d'Alacant City Council, in collaboration with other public and private entities, to be held in person from March 23 to 29, 2025, with the aim of promoting the art of cinema. SECOND. -PARTICIPATION AND REQUIREMENTS Short films of Spanish or international production may participate, and although the theme is free, works with a tourist or advertising nature, series or video clips will not participate. The registered works must be produced after January 1, 2024. The Festival organization may request proof of this condition. Works registered in previous editions of the Festival will not be admitted. Unfinished works will not be taken into account. Works visible to the public will not be taken into account. The maximum duration of the films will be 30 minutes, with credits not necessarily included. The selection committee will not take into account more than three registered works by the same director. Regarding the local category Ficus “POPcorn” award, productions from 2023 onwards will also be eligible for this award. To enter this category, it is necessary that at least 50% of the crew be people registered or educated in Sant Joan d'Alacant, or that at least 50% of the scenes have been filmed in the municipality. THIRD. - REGISTRATION The registration of the short film that meets the requirements established in the SECOND BASE may be carried out from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante. Prior to their registration, the short films must complete all the mandatory sections on a single viewing platform to choose from the following: CLICKFORFESTIVALS (www.clickforfestivals.com) (exclusive use for international short films) FESTHOME (www.festhome.com) MOVIBETA (www.movibeta.com) The platforms will have an open competition section that will also be accessible from https://santjoanfestivaldecine.es. For participation in the local category 'PALOMITAS' it will be mandatory to send a technical sheet and documentation justifying the concurrence of the additional requirements established for this award in the SECOND BASE to the email address fcsjmateriales@gmail.com, providing an online viewing link so that the short can be evaluated by the selection committee. All this without prejudice to the fact that you can also register through the platforms if you opt for the rest of the planned prizes. The registration deadline will be December 19, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. The organization reserves the right to extend the deadline for the call in one or more categories, as well as to establish a limited number of registrations if the number of participation requests causes saturation of the viewing and selection processes. In this case, the shorts will be attended to in order of entry into the platforms. Any questions or incidents regarding the correct registration of a film on the platforms should be directed to: help@festhome.com, contact@clickforfestivals.com, info@movibeta.com. The Festival does not require a registration fee. QUARTER. - SELECTION A Selection Committee made up of professionals from the audiovisual and cultural sector, linked to the organization of the Festival, will select the finalist works from among all those presented. Their decisions will be final. For the selection, the Committee will take into account the criteria contained in the SIXTH BASIS. Under no circumstances will a film be entered if it cannot confirm with certainty its final participation in the Festival. If a film already registered is removed from a platform, it must be notified to the email coordination@santjoanfestivaldecine.es before the end of the registration period so that the selectors can also remove it from their evaluation sheet. If the short film is selected, you will be notified via email before the list of selected works is made public.
