Resolution of the Management of the Biodiversity Foundation, which approves the publication of the call for subsidies, to support projects approved within the framework of the LIFE program in the field of biodiversity and promotion of digitalization.

Official description of the call

First.- Beneficiaries. 1. Depending on the line of aid, the entities that may obtain the status of beneficiaries for these subsidies will be differentiated. 2. For the line of support for LIFE program projects: a) Private non-profit entities and organizations that, according to their statutes or regulations that regulate them, carry out R&D&i activities or generate scientific or technological knowledge. b) Public research organizations. c) Public universities. 3. Entities that coordinate or participate in LIFE projects in which the Biodiversity Foundation is also a part will not be able to apply for the LIFE program project support line. 4. For the digitalization line: a) Private non-profit entities and organizations, which according to their statutes or regulations that regulate them, carry out R&D&i activities or generate scientific or technological knowledge. Second.- Object. The purpose of this call is to co-finance actions that will contribute, through scientific knowledge, to the conservation of natural heritage, in accordance with what is established in the plans and strategies of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, especially as referred to in the State Strategic Plan for natural heritage and biodiversity to 2030. The line of aid to support projects of the LIFE program will contribute to the financing of projects approved by the European Commission. With the support of these projects, the implementation of the priority lines of action on protection and conservation of nature, recovery and restoration of ecosystems and reduction of threats to the natural heritage and biodiversity of the State Strategic Plan for natural heritage and biodiversity to 2030 will be promoted. The projects of the digitization aid line will allow achieving greater knowledge of the elements of the natural heritage, to help inform decision-making, to manage it more effectively and efficiently and to disseminate knowledge, through open, easy information. findable, interoperable, accessible and reusable (in accordance with the FAIR principles). The support for these projects will favor the implementation of the priority line of action to improve knowledge about natural heritage and biodiversity of the State Strategic Plan for natural heritage and biodiversity to 2030. Third.- Regulatory bases. Order TED/818/2021, of July 12, which approves the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies from the Biodiversity Foundation, F.S.P., on a competitive basis, for the financing of research and activities that contribute to the ecological transition, to the conservation of natural heritage and to addressing climate change. Fourth.- Endowment and execution period of the projects. The maximum global endowment of the call is up to 8,000,000,000 euros, divided into two lines of aid: a) Support for LIFE program projects, with a maximum endowment of €5,500,000.00. b) Support for digitalization, with a maximum endowment of €2,500,000.00. In the event that the maximum allocation is not granted in one of the two aid lines, the remainder may be moved to the other aid line and increase its initial allocation. In both lines, the minimum aid to be requested will be €50,000.00 and the maximum will be €300,000.00 per project. In the case of the line of support for LIFE program projects, the start of the projects may be from January 1, 2024 and will have a maximum duration until September 30, 2027, extensions included. In the case of the digitalization support line, the start of the projects will begin from the date of publication of the resolution of the call and will have a maximum duration until September 30, 2027, extensions included. The maximum subsidy percentage will be 80% in both lines. Fifth.- Application submission deadline. The deadline for submitting applications will begin from the day following the date of publication of the extract of the call in the Official State Gazette, until March 13, 2025, inclusive, under the terms and conditions specified in Order TED/818/2021, of July 12.
