From the 1st Ester Xargay Video Poetry Prize 2025

Official description of the call

1. The Juneda City Council and the Center for the Arts and Memory of Ponent (CAMP) announce the Ester Xargay Video Poetry Award to recognize an original audiovisual piece based on one or more poems, which investigates or suggests a special interrelation between the word and the moving image. 2. Participating video poems must be unpublished and recorded in the Catalan language, and may not exceed 10 minutes in length; They will not have to have been awarded in other competitions, nor will they have to have participated in any other competition pending adjudication. 3. The prize is worth 500 euros (from which the legally corresponding deductions will be made). 4. The jury will especially value works carried out in collaboration or with the consent of the literary authors and, of course, also works in which the author of the literary and audiovisual part is the same person, team or group. 5. In the case of using non-original poems, music or audiovisual material, it will be essential to clearly indicate their authorship, the edition of the book, the source of the poems, music or audiovisual material on which work has been done. The jury will assess the viability of external copyrights that may be generated by the publication and public exhibition of the winning work. 6. The audiovisual piece must be submitted in MP4 or MOV format, through a link to a file download platform (DRIVE, WETRANSFER, DROPBOX), to the email address programcio@campjuneda.cat, with the subject “Premio Ester Xargay” and the title of the work. The message must be accompanied by a PDF whose name will be the title of the work and which will contain the following information: name and surname of the author, a scanned image of their ID, address, telephone number, email, a brief biobibliographic note and the reference of the source of the poems, music and audiovisual material used in the video poem. The video will be headed only with the title, without indicating authorship. 7. The admission period ends on March 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. 8. The jury will be made up of Francesc Gelonch, Josep M. Jordana and a third member to be specified. 9. The jury reserves the right to declare the prize void if it is considered that the works presented do not meet sufficient quality. 10. The Ponent Center for Arts and Memory reserves the right to exhibit the winning piece and/or publish it on its digital accounts. 11. The fact of applying for the award implies full acceptance of these rules.
