Official description of the call

1.Object The purpose of this call is to convene the XII Edition of the Mallorca Crafts Awards 2025, in a competitive competition regime, to enhance the productive fabric of the artisan sector and provide institutional recognition to the effort and dedication of artisans in the production of quality, unique and sustainable products. 2. Regulatory bases The regulatory bases of this call are those established in the General Subsidy Ordinance of the Island Council of Mallorca, approved by Plenary Agreement of December 23, 2016 (BOIB no. 21, of 02/18/2017), modified by Plenary Agreement of June 14, 2018 (BOIB no. 96, of 04.08.2018). 3. Beneficiaries Applicants who meet the following requirements may be beneficiaries of the prizes: Natural or legal persons with tax domicile on the island of Mallorca. Be in possession of one of the artisan accreditations granted by the Council of Mallorca in force (with the exception of the participants of the “Impulso Award” who do not need it, and the “Trayectoria Award” who may have it expired). Be registered with economic activities, which will be accredited by presenting the certificate of status in the census of economic activities of the AEAT (State Tax Administration Agency) for the current year, and a work life report issued by Social Security. Participants in the “Impulse Award” and “Career Award” categories are exempt from this requirement. In the “Impulse Award” category, you must prove that you are a student of training centers or educational institutions related to artisan trades. The members of the Jury cannot submit a candidacy for any category of the awards. 4. Budget credit The expenditure budget of the Island Council of Mallorca for the year 2025 has allocated the amount of €39,000.00 to carry out the call for the awards, charged to budget application 20.43900.48100, called “Crafts Awards”. 5. Categories and amounts of the awards: A) Artesanía de Mallorca Award: Endowment: €7,000.00 The 'Artisanía de Mallorca Award' honors excellence in local craftsmanship, giving special importance to the unmatched quality of the product and its commitment to sustainability. It is about recognizing those works that, beyond their magnificent craftsmanship, reflect a deep environmental awareness throughout their production chain. Through this award, we want to celebrate the artisan tradition of Mallorca and promote an artisan who combines mastery and respect for our environment. B) Artisan Tradition Award Endowment: €5,000.00 This award aims to reward works developed by its author with criteria of originality and uniqueness and inspired by their know-how that connect us with our artisan past. The foundations of traditional crafts are based on the traditions of our island. Its basis is the transmission of knowledge through generations, often in oral form, which is why it is also connected with intangible heritage. The techniques and knowledge used in artisanal activities are the most relevant, as heritage, beyond the product itself. Through this award, the aim is to guarantee the safeguarding of the knowledge, materials, techniques and products of the traditional crafts of our island so that it is transmitted to future generations and continues to be practiced as a means of subsistence and cultural identity. C) Artisan Design and Innovation Award Endowment: €5,000.00 It is a category that seeks to reward those artisans who create their pieces individually, with a high level of excellence, both in materials and in execution but with a contemporary design. The idea is that these objects transmit innovation and creativity and show the know-how of the trades with an original and unique final result. This award aims to reward works characterized by their high creative value and innovative spirit from a functional and formal perspective and developed by their author with criteria of uniqueness and originality. D) Artisan Promotion Award Endowment: €5,000.00. This award aims to recognize programs, campaigns or initiatives for the promotion and marketing of crafts that have contributed to the prestige and visibility of crafts in society. AND)
