PUBLIC CALL FOR THE XXII EDITION OF THE RICARDO CARVALHO CALERO PRIZE FOR LINGUISTIC RESEARCH AND LITERARY CREATION 2025. In accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3 b) and 20.8 la) of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general on subsidies, the extract of the call for the XXII EDITION is published OF THE RICARDO CARVALHO CALERO AWARD FOR LINGUISTIC RESEARCH AND LITERARY CREATION 2025. Purpose, content The award will be announced biannually and its purpose is to declare the merit appreciated in the winning works, presented in competition with others, and to promote artistic and literary creativity. The contest will include two modalities, and candidates may submit one or both: • Linguistic research or essay award (understanding the essay as a literary genre in the keys of discourse generation, debate and reflection), in which the works presented will have a minimum length of 100 pages and a maximum of 250 pages. • Literary creation award (short story), which will consist of a short story or a set of stories per author, with a maximum of 60 pages. Requirements to request participation All authors of legal age, of any nationality, who present their works written in the Galician language, with regulatory freedom, and who did not obtain the prize in either of the two modalities in editions prior to this one, or other similar prizes, may participate in this award. Registration deadline The deadline for the presentation of original works will begin on the day following the publication of this call in the BOP and will end on September 30. Documents and information that must accompany the request Each work will be presented in digital format. The digital support must include on the cover: XXII Ricardo Carvalho Calero Prize, the title of the work, and a motto or pseudonym of the person who is its author, and the modality in which it is competing. The text processing will be PDF. The technical format requirements for the works will be: Times New Roman font, type 12 in text, 10 in footnotes and 9 in textual quotes of more than three lines; simple spacing, 3 cm margins and numbered pages. The works must be sent by email to the address cultura@ferrol.es in a single message, with the subject “XXII Ricardo Carvalho Calero Prize”, which includes two attached files: - File 1: The work submitted to the competition, in PDF format, signed only with a pseudonym. It should not contain any personal data of the author. - File 2 (escrow): A PDF file titled “Escrow_(pseudonym)” that includes the author's personal data (full name, ID, address, telephone number, email), title of the work, the motto or pseudonym used, a copy of the identity document, a brief resume and an express declaration that the work is unpublished and has not been awarded, until the date of presentation, in any other contest or award. The jury will only have access to the file of the work. The escrow will only be opened once the prize has been awarded and only in the event that the work is a winner or finalist. Amount of prizes The prize for each of the prize modalities will be €4,000, amounts subject to the legal withholdings that apply to them. In addition, the winning works will be published by the Ferrol City Council. The originals submitted will be respected, including the linguistic regulations.
