Call for the restoration of historic mills on the island of Mallorca, multi-annual 2026/2027

Official description of the call

1. Regulatory bases This call is governed by the provisions of the regulatory bases included in the General Subsidies Ordinance of the Island Council of Mallorca (BOIB no. 21, of 02/18/2017), modified by agreement of the Plenary Session of June 14, 2018 (BOIB no. 96, of 08/04/2018).2. PurposeThe purpose of this call is to provide financial support through subsidies, on a competitive basis, for carrying out works and/or interventions for the conservation, consolidation or restoration of the historic mills on the island of Mallorca. The object of this aid is the actions aimed at the restoration of the architectural elements and the machinery of the water extraction windmills, the flour windmills, the hydraulic mills and the blood mills, as well as the construction or replacement of missing elements, guaranteeing respect for traditional typologies, techniques and materials. The maximum amount that the beneficiary may receive as a subsidy may not exceed 75% per subsidized project, with a maximum limit of €150,000 per project. More than one application may be submitted per interested party referring to different mills located on different plots or municipal areas.3. BeneficiariesThey can access these subsidies: natural persons; private legal entities with or without profit motive; public business entities; local entities; groups of private natural or legal persons without personality; communities of property, communities of owners, hereditary communities and other patrimonial-based entities that are owners or holders of real rights over the assets that are the subject of this call.4. Budget allocationThe Island Council of Mallorca, by resolution dated 07/10/2025, has an amount of €3,000,000.00, financed by the Sustainable Tourism Promotion Fund from the ITS2024-2025-014 project, charged to the AETIB budget. Total year 2027: €2,100,000.00 All conditional on the existence of adequate and sufficient credit for the year 2027. The granting of subsidies will be carried out through a competitive competition regime, in accordance with the assessment criteria established in base 13 of the call, so that the subsidies will be awarded according to the order of points obtained until the credit is exhausted.5. Submission of applications. The deadline for submitting applications together with the rest of the required documentation is two months, which will be counted from the day following the publication of the extract of this call in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands.
