CALL FOR SUBSIDIES FOR THE PROMOTION OF EDITORIAL PRODUCTIONS, ANY 2025

Official description of the call

Call for subsidies to promote editorial productions (year 2025) 1. Object and purpose Subsidies under a competitive competition regime for the promotion of editorial productions for the year 2025, in accordance with the specific regulatory bases, approved by the Plenary Session of the Provincial Council of Girona on November 19, 2024 and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona no. 230, of November 29, 2024. The objects of these subsidies are books published by publishing companies and non-profit entities in the Girona regions that meet the following requirements: editions in the Catalan language, which include the corresponding ISBN and legal deposit number, which are marketable through the usual book sales channels (in the case of electronic edition, which are put on sale from portals that allow their download or consultation in line), which have a minimum of fifty interior pages (except children's books, theater or poetry books, graphic novels, songbooks, books of sheet music, books with text validated with the Easy Reading seal and electronic books) and a minimum circulation of two hundred copies (except for books of sheet music, which must have a minimum circulation of fifty copies). The editions included in the following cases are excluded from the subsidy: a) Magazines or periodicals. b) Textbooks. c) Books considered bibliophile and those with limited and numbered editions. d) Works published in fascicles or sheets that are not linked or exchangeable, and permanently updated. e) Works published by entities or companies that are only accessible to their members or members, and those published expressly for sale in installments. f) Works published or financed by the authors themselves and non-venal works. g) Works in which the text is not mainly in Catalan. h) Children's books without text. i) Exhibition catalogs whose literary content is a minority part of the set. j) Supplements to publications and publications that are marketed mainly conditional on the acquisition of another publication. k) Albums, cut-outs or exercise notebooks. l) The individual volumes of a complete work, if not sold separately. m) Reprints and reissues, except if the first edition is more than ten years old or if the work incorporates new content (critical study, prologue, new translation or revision, etc.). These assumptions are enumerative and expandable. Likewise, the Evaluation Commission may reconsider, if appropriate, the established assumptions, given reasons of opportunity. These bases are aligned with sustainable development goals 4 (“Quality education”), 12 (“Responsible consumption and production”), 13 (“Climate action”) and 16 (“Peace, justice and strong institutions”). 2. Recipients Publishing companies (natural or legal persons that legally, regularly and continuously, and as their main activity, publishing books) and non-profit entities in the Girona regions may apply for the grants covered by these rules. To obtain the status of beneficiaries of the subsidies, applicants must meet the general requirements and conditions established in article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies. The following are not eligible for these subsidies: public administrations and entities, public companies, associations, communities or associations of municipalities or public consortia with municipal participation, natural and legal persons contracted to manage editorial productions promoted by local entities, natural and legal persons whose professional activity is not editorial activity or authors who finance their own works, congregations and religious institutions, political parties and associations, unions, electoral coalitions, municipal groups and other similar structures, parents' associations, merchants' associations, neighborhood associations and other similar entities. 3.
