Resolution of December 18, 2025 of the Secretary of State for Culture, which calls for subsidies, to promote translation into foreign languages ​​corresponding to the year 2026

Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries The following may apply for these subsidies: foreign publishing entities, public or private in nature, for-profit or non-profit, that are legal entities or natural persons registered in the self-employment regime of their country of origin, provided that they are legally constituted. Second. Object Complete literary, classic and contemporary, or scientific works. The work to be translated must be published in any of the official languages ​​of Spain, as well as those with legal recognition in the statutes of autonomy of the Autonomous Communities and, in addition, it must meet one of these two conditions: a) that it has been published by a Spanish publisher that holds the publishing rights and distributed in national territory. b) that, not having been published by Spanish publishers, its author has Spanish nationality. The same publishing entity may not request help for more than three projects. In the event that the same title exceeds this limit, the first three applications submitted will be evaluated, according to date, time and registration number, with the remaining ones considered excluded. Third. Regulatory bases The regulatory bases by which this aid is governed were established through Order CUL/2912/2010, of November 10, published in the BOE number 275, dated November 13, 2010. Fourth. Amount The amount of the subsidies called will be, a maximum of 280,000 euros, for translations of complete works, carried out exclusively by foreign publishing entities, charged to budget application 24.03.490.13 of program 144A “Aid for the translation of books into foreign languages”, of the Expenditure Budget of the Ministry of Culture for the year 2026. In accordance with article 56.2 of the Regulation of Law 38/2003, of November 17, the maximum total amount established will be estimated, so the granting of subsidies will be conditional on the existence of adequate and sufficient credit at the time of the granting resolution. In cases in which the budgetary credit that results, as a consequence of any of the circumstances provided for in articles 56.1 and 58.2.a) of the Regulation of Law 38/2003, of November 17, is higher than the amounts initially estimated, the investigating body may decide to increase them with an additional amount of up to 320,000 euros, after processing the corresponding expenditure file before the granting resolution, without need for a new call. In accordance with the provisions of article 58.5 of the Regulation, the declaration of available credits and the final distribution, respectively, will be published prior to the granting resolution, without such publicity implying the opening of the deadline to submit new applications or the start of a new calculation of the deadline to resolve. Fifth. Deadline for submitting applications The deadline for submitting applications will be 25 business days counted from the day following the publication of the extract of this call in the Official State Gazette, with entities having the same period (25 business days) to request the key arranged electronically starting the day following the publication of the extract of this call in the Official State Gazette. Sixth. Other information Only the payment to the translator for his translation work will be considered an eligible expense. This subsidy is compatible with other aid for translation from other organizations or institutions, public or private, national or foreign, as long as the amount of said contribution is such that, alone or in conjunction with other subsidies, it does not exceed 100% of the cost of the subsidized translation.
