Extract of the call: In accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies, the extract of the call is published, the full text of which can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database (https://www.pap.hacienda.gob.es/bdnstrans/index). Beneficiaries: Any person of legal age, regardless of their nationality, origin or place of residence, who has not obtained this same award, including second prize, in previous calls by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, may compete in this 2026 call for the “Viera y Clavijo Humanities Research Award”. Purpose: Award, on a competitive basis, of the "Viera y Clavijo Humanities Research Award" intended to recognize research work, carried out individually or collectively, that promotes scientific and humanistic research on Canarian themes. Regulatory bases: General Subsidies Ordinance of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 166 of December 26, 2008. Amount: A SINGLE PRIZE is established with a financial prize of SEVEN THOUSAND EUROS (€7,000.00). In the event that the prize goes to a research team made up of two or more people, the financial award of seven thousand euros (€7,000.00) will be distributed, equally, among all the people who make up the team. The award-winning work will be published by the Casa de Colón and the Publishing Department of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria under the terms determined by the latter. The Jury may grant, where appropriate, a ACCÉSIT with a financial award of THREE THOUSAND EUROS (€3,000.00) and without this implying its publication by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. The prize and, where applicable, the second prize, will be subject to current tax legislation, with legally established withholdings being made on said financial awards. Deadline for submission of applications: The deadline for admission of originals will end sixty (60) calendar days from the day following the publication of this call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas. Each participant may present only one work, written in Spanish, original, that has not been awarded in any other national or international competition or contest. The original will have a minimum length of two hundred (200) pages and a maximum of two hundred fifty (250) pages (including figures: photos, graphs, tables and plans). It must be presented in digital format, PDF format, with font size 12 in Times New Roman font (or equivalent), and line spacing of 1.5 and normal margins (set by default in the text program), and size DIN A4, which must be presented in the manner indicated in the Rules. The research work, along with the rest of the documentation necessary to participate in this call, which is detailed in Base Six.- Documentation necessary for the processing of the procedure, will be presented through the Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria [https://sede.grancanaria.com] or in person at the places detailed in Base Five.- Procedures.
