Agreement of the Executive Council in an ordinary session of October 28, 2024, regarding the approval of the call for the XXII Josep Vivó Prize for written gloss, of the Island Council of Menorca.

Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries Two modalities are established: 1. General modality a) All people who wish, over 16 years of age, individually, may participate in this contest. b) Each participant may submit up to a maximum of three works in the competition. 2. School modality a) All students from educational centers in Menorca who attend between 5th grade of primary school and 4th grade of secondary school may participate in this modality, individually or in groups of up to four students. b) Each group may submit a single work to the competition. Second. Purpose The purpose of this award is to stimulate literary creation, especially in the form of written gloss, a genre typical of the popular culture of Menorca. Third. Regulatory bases The call is governed by the bases approved by the Executive Council in an ordinary session, on October 23, 2023. and published in BOIB number 156 of 11/16/2023. Room. Amount The maximum global amount of the call is €2,600 (two thousand six hundred euros). Fifth. Deadline for submitting applications The deadline for submitting applications to participate in this award will end on December 15, 2024. Sixth. Other data. The following prizes are established: a) General modality: a single cash prize, of 2,000 euros, for the author of the winning glosses, and a mention from the jury for a maximum of two finalist glosses. b) School modality: one prize for primary school students and one for secondary school students, consisting of two vouchers of 300 euros each to be exchanged for books, school or computer supplies, and a mention from the jury for a maximum of two finalist glosses for each modality. In addition, the center to which the prize winners of each category belong will obtain a prize consisting of the performance of a group included in the catalog of the Menorca Music and Theater program of the Island Council, chosen by the winners' classroom group and which will be held on the dates decided by each center, with an amount of 500 euros per concert. The works submitted for the award must meet the following requirements: 1. They must be written in the Catalan language, in the Menorcan linguistic modality, and be unpublished. 2. They must have the structure of the gloss (between six and eight verses per gloss) and consist of a minimum of 15 glosses and a maximum of 50 in the general modality and between 10 and 20 glosses in the school modality. 3. The theme of the works presented is free. However, it will be appreciated if they deal with a current issue in Menorca. 4. The works may be submitted on paper (one copy per work) or on computer, with title and signed with a pseudonym.
