Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries: Applicants must meet the requirements set out in the corresponding annex. The requirements must be maintained from the moment of the request until the end of the execution period. ANNEX I. MODALITY A. SHORT PREDOCTORAL STAYS. Requirements of applicants. General conditions: a) Be a female researcher from a country in Sub-Saharan Africa established in the list https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49/ (search by “Geographic Regions” and “Sub-Saharan Africa”). b) Having obtained approval of the research project presented to a research group at the University of Alicante and being accepted into said group with details of the line of research to which it is joining. c) Not receive other aid of a similar nature, charged to any budget of another administration or public or private entity, national or foreign, to carry out the stay at the UA in the requested period. d) Carry out the activity that is the object of the aid within the period established in this call. e) Not incur any of the circumstances included in article 13.2 of Law 38/2003, General Subsidies. f) Not having a residence permit in Spain, except for studies/research. Specific conditions: a) Be enrolled in a doctoral/postgraduate program at a university in one of the African countries established in these bases b) Prove that you are requesting aid to complete your academic and research training at the University of Alicante. ANNEX II MODALITY B. SHORT POSTDOCTORAL STAYS. Requirements of applicants. General conditions: a) Be a female researcher from a country in Sub-Saharan Africa established in the list https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49/ (search by “Geographic Regions” and “Sub-Saharan Africa”). b) Be in possession of the academic degree of doctor. c) Carry out the stay for research purposes. d) Having obtained approval of the research project presented to a UA research group and being accepted in said group with details of the line of research to which it is incorporated. e) Not receive other aid of a similar nature, charged to any budget of another administration or public or private entity, national or foreign, to carry out the stay at the UA in the requested period. f) Carry out the activity that is the object of the aid within the period established in this call. g) Not incur any of the circumstances included in article 13.2 of Law 38/2003, General Subsidies. h) Not having a residence permit in Spain, except for studies/research. Specific conditions: Submodality B.1. In the case of aid for public employees - civil servants or contracted personnel - university postdoctoral students. a) Prove that you are contracted staff or a teaching and research official of a university belonging to one of the African countries established in these bases, at the time of the end of the application period and continue with that condition for the duration of your stay at the University of Alicante. Submodality B.2. In the case of postdoctoral researchers from Sub-Saharan African countries established in the call. a) Prove that you are a citizen of a country with an agreement with Spain to avoid double taxation. See list at: https://www.hacienda.gob.es/es-ES/Normativa%20y%20doctrina/Normativa/CDI/Paginas/CDI_Alfa.aspx b) If the country does not appear in the previous list, researchers from countries without an agreement with Spain must pay taxes to the Spanish Treasury for the aid received from the UA. They must take into account that the amount to be received for the scholarship will be reduced by 24%. These amounts cannot be recovered. c) Accredit the recommendation of a professor/researcher from your university/research center of origin. Second. Purpose: The purpose of this call is to award, on a competitive basis, grants to female researchers in the predoctoral or postdoctoral stage, who have the nationality of one of the African countries established in these bases and need to complete their training by carrying out short research stays at the University of Alicante, UA, for the development of their doctoral thesis or research.
