Official description of the call
That on January 22, 2024, the Local Government Board adopted an approving agreement of the Call and Rules of the XXIX Real Villa de Guardamar Short Narrative Contest, year 2024, the text of which is as follows: RULES OF THE XXIX REAL VILLA DE GUARDAMAR SHORT NARRATIVE CONTEST YEAR 2024 FIRST All people who wish to do so may participate in this contest with original and unpublished, in Spanish and/or Valencian, not awarded in other contests nor awaiting the decision of any contest until our prize is awarded. Works that have already been submitted to this same competition in previous editions will not be accepted either. The theme will be free. SECOND 5 original copies will be submitted, typed or typed with 12-point font, in DIN A-4 format on one side and double spaced, with a minimum of 5 pages and a maximum of 10, unsigned. They must be presented accompanied by a closed envelope on the outside of which a motto will appear. The inside of the envelope must include the name and surname of the author, ID, date of birth, address, telephone number and a brief Curriculum Vitae. This envelope will be opened once the works have been rated by the jury. In the event that an author competes with several works, he must repeat the aforementioned procedure as many times as there are originals submitted to the competition. Likewise, the author must include in this envelope a signed document stating: - Declaration that: The story submitted to this contest is original, unpublished and has not won an award in other contests. You are also not subject to failure in any other competition. And it is the first time that the work is submitted to this competition. - Certificate of being up to date with the Treasury and Social Security or Authorization to the City Council to obtain them. This authorization can be downloaded from the page https://www.bibliotecaspublicas.es/guardamardelsegura. If the certificates reflect debts with these Administrations, it will prevent submission to the contest. Likewise, the fact of having debts with the Guardamar del Segura City Council will prevent the presentation, an issue that will be verified by the municipal services themselves. THIRD The following modalities are established: Modality 1: Stories on free themes written in Valencian Modality 2: Stories on free themes written in Spanish. Modality 3: Stories with free themes written in either language and by a Local Author. People registered in the municipality until January 31, 2024 will be considered local authors. Modality 4: Stories that deal with equal opportunities between women and men written in either of the two languages; Specifically, they must be related to one of the following topics: make visible the active participation of women in political, social, cultural and economic life under the same conditions as men; the existing inequalities between women and men in different areas (work, family, social...); co-responsibility and reconciliation of personal, family and work life; prevention and eradication of gender violence by promoting good relationships. In addition to literary quality and narrative coherence, the defense of non-discriminatory or sexist values, the breaking of traditional male and female stereotypes and the use of non-sexist language will be valued. The authors must state in the envelope the modality in which they want to participate. The works must be sent by mail or delivered in person from the day following the publication of the rules in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante and until Friday, April 12, 2024 to the XXIX REAL VILLA DE GUARDAMAR SHORT NARRATIVE COMPETITION MUNICIPAL PUBLIC LIBRARY C/ SANT JAUME, 5 A 03140 GUARDAMAR DEL SEGURA (Alicante) FOURTH The jury, made up of 5 members, will be appointed by the Mayor of Guardamar from among people of recognized prestige at the proposal of the Department of Culture, with the Middle Technician of the Municipal Public Library of Guardamar del Segura acting as Secretary, with voice but without vote. The jury will base its qualifications on the following evaluation criteria: 1st.- Creativity and originality of the work. 2nd.- Narrative coherence. 3º.- Literary quality and style of the work.
