Official description of the call
Regulatory bases The regulatory bases of this call are included in the general subsidy ordinance of the Island Council of Mallorca and the autonomous bodies that depend on it (BOIB no. 21, of February 18, 2017), modified by agreement of the Plenary of June 14, 2018 (BOIB no. 96, of August 4, 2018). Purpose Applications whose purpose is the production and publishing, in any format, both physical and digital, of books, audiobooks, phonograms and board games in the Catalan language are eligible for this call. Books, phonograms and audiobooks must be edited and deposited in the Legal Deposit Office of the Council of Mallorca within the deadline of the call, that is, between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024, both included. With respect to books, works exclusively in the Catalan language that are marketed through bookstores or platforms for the sale of digital books and audiobooks, and that meet the following requirements, can qualify for this call: a) Be first editions or reissues of previous edition titles that have been published more than ten years ago. b) Have a minimum circulation of 300 copies, if published on paper. c) Consist of a minimum of 50 pages, with the exception of children's books. d) In the case of musical scores, in addition to meeting requirements a), b) and c), they must have an introductory study of a minimum of five pages. e) In the case of audiobooks, they must be recorded using a real human voice, they must originate from a work previously published on paper and they must be a faithful reproduction; Likewise, they have to be edited for marketing. For the purposes of these rules, a commercial edition is understood to be one that is subject to a retail price. An audiobook is understood to be the digital product obtained by recording the reading aloud of a printed book, capable of being reproduced on electronic devices. Audiobooks that do not have a legal deposit number and those that have been registered with electronic voice are excluded from the call. With respect to phonograms, long-playing records (LP), compact discs (single or double), maxi-singles and phonograms in digital format, the author or performers of which are from the Balearic Islands and which have the text/lyrics exclusively in the Catalan language - in the case of recordings of works with text/lyrics - are eligible for this call, which are marketed through appropriate establishments and which meet the following requirements: a) Be first editions or reissues of works that have been registered more than ten years ago. b) Have a minimum circulation of 300 copies, if they are published in CD format or other physical support. c) Be published at least on a digital platform or on its own website, if it only has digital support. d) The accompanying informative documentation and the typographical presentation must be in Catalan or, at least, it is necessary that the Catalan language always occupies a preferential place, the same extension as the others that can be used. With respect to board games and similar games, board games and other elements that involve a graphic production on paper, cardboard, cardboard, plastic or similar, the theme of which is related to some historical, cultural or traditional element of Mallorca, that have the text or lyrics exclusively in the Catalan language and that meet the following requirements, may be eligible for this call: Be first editions. Have a minimum circulation of one hundred copies. The accompanying informative documentation and typographical presentation must be in Catalan or, at least, it is necessary that the Catalan language always occupies a preferential place, the same extension as that of the others that can be used. Beneficiaries In accordance with the provisions of point 4 of the call, beneficiaries may be natural persons or legal entities, constituted as companies, with their own personality, that carry out, in accordance with their corporate purpose, the publishing of books and phonograms that are the subject of this call on a regular basis, provided that they are legally constituted, in accordance with current regulations, at the end of the application submission period and have the domicile or establishment.
