Official description of the call
First. Object and purpose. “Calderón de la Barca” Theater Award for New Authors, on a competitive basis. The purpose of the Award is to recognize merit in dramaturgical creation by distinguishing the theatrical work of a new author. Second. Recipients. New authors, Spanish authors and nationals of other States of the European Union and the European Economic Area may participate in the call for the award. A new author is understood to be one who has not yet publicly released more than one work in exhibition circuits with box office returns. To this end, short plays will be excluded from this calculation. Persons who meet any of the circumstances listed in article 13 of the LGS will not be able to obtain beneficiary status. Third. Regulatory bases. Order CUL/330/2008, of January 28, which establishes the regulatory bases for the granting of the "Calderón de la Barca" Theater Award for New Authors (BOE no. 39, of February 14), modified by Order ECD/1232/2012, of May 30 (BOE no. 138, of June 9). Room. Amount. The financial endowment of the Prize is 10,000.00 euros charged to concept 488 of Program 24,107,335B, an amount that cannot be divided. Fifth. Application submission deadline. The deadline for submitting applications will be twenty calendar days from the day following the publication of this resolution in the Official State Gazette. Sixth. Other data. Applicants must present theatrical works with an original theme whose duration is the normal duration of a complete dramatic show, not admitting short plays, nor adaptations, versions or rereadings of other texts previously published or publicly exhibited. The works may be written in any of the official languages of Spain. Theatrical works awarded in other competitions, publicly premiered, or published in any medium or dissemination medium will not be admitted. Each applicant can participate with a single work in the call.
