Official description of the call
First. Beneficiaries: Any university or institution of the European Union or Latin America that promotes or finances research studies on the protection of personal data and any individual researcher or group of researchers who carry out scientific-technical research work may be eligible for the award, provided that the results of a project, development, publication or research are carried out in the field described in the first basis of this call. Second. Purpose: Its purpose is to reward data protection works and projects carried out in the context of scientific-technical research, with a strictly practical approach, in which the application of data protection principles is studied, analyzed or developed in the field of scientific-technical development in order to guarantee the rights and freedoms of people. Preferably, those activities related to the application of proactive responsibility established in the GDPR and the management of risks to rights and freedoms in solutions related to disruptive technologies, those that deal with special categories of data, treatments considered high risk or that affect a significant part of society or more exposed groups such as minors, people with disabilities or people in situations of gender violence or other situations of harassment will be considered of greatest interest. Third. Regulatory Bases: Resolution of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, dated May 23, 2024, published on the website www.aepd.es. Room. Prize: The Emilio Aced Personal Data Protection Research Prize will consist of a financial award of three thousand euros (€3,000.00) and the dissemination of an extract of the winning work through the AEPD website. The jury may propose the award of a second prize worth one thousand five hundred euros (€1,500.00). In the event that the jury proposes to declare the prize void, it may propose granting an additional second prize worth one thousand five hundred euros (€1,500.00). The winners will have an honorable mention, through a diploma awarded for this purpose. Likewise, each successful candidate will be awarded a trophy accrediting the prize they have won. Fifth. Application submission deadline: Applications must be submitted from the day following the date of publication of these bases in the Official State Gazette. The deadline for submitting works will end on October 15, 2024.
