Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries: People who: · Have defended their doctoral thesis in the period between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023 may obtain beneficiary status and apply for this award. Second. Purpose: The purpose of this call is to grant, on a competitive basis, the VI Young Researchers Award of the University Institute of Materials (IUMA), whose objective is to encourage research in the Area of ​​Materials Science and Technology. Third. Regulatory bases: The regulatory bases and call are published jointly in the Official Gazette of the University of Alicante on October 8, 2024, at the following URL: https://www.boua.ua.es/Agreements/DescargarAtrabajo/53241 Cuarto. Amount: The amount of aid is a maximum of 2000 euros. A maximum number of 3 prizes will be awarded, according to the following prize: - First prize: €1,200 - Second prize: €400 - Third prize: €400 Fifth. Application submission deadline: The call will be published in the BOUA for information purposes, prior to the publication of the extract in the DOGV. The application period begins the day after the publication of the extract of the call in the DOGV and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Sixth. Other information: Award criteria: The evaluation commission appointed by the IUMA for this purpose will preselect three researchers from among all the applicants. This will be based on the merits included in the Curriculum Vitae (60%) and the quality of the selected article (40%), according to the following criteria: 1. Curriculum Vitae (60%) a. Number of articles (10%) b. Number of articles as first author (10%) c. Article quality parameters (15%) d. Total number of months spent in foreign centers (5%) e. Patents (invention patent with examination or licensed) (10%) f. Description/summary of the main line of research of the contestant, highlighting their contribution to said line (up to 500 words) (10%) 2. Quality of the research article presented (40%) a. Article quality parameters (20%) b. Awards/mentions (cover, hot paper, appearance in portals and scientific news, etc.) (10%) c. Description of the relevance of the article to the field of Materials Science and Technology and contribution of the contestant (up to 500 words) (10%) The three finalists must make an oral presentation, which will be public, of their research article presented. The presentation of the work will be in person, and will be carried out prior to the start of the XXI Scientific Conference of the University Institute of Materials, which will be held on January 23 and 24, 2025. The evaluation committee will take into account the quality of the work presented by the finalist candidates, the knowledge demonstrated by them in the research area according to the following criteria: - Capacity for presentation (20%) - Clarity in the presentation (20%) - Clarity of the material used in the presentation (20%) - Knowledge of the subject (20%) - Agility in responses (20%)
