December 26, 2024 of the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Universities by which the XXI “Arquímedes” University Contest for Introduction to Scientific Research is convened for advance processing.

Official description of the call

First. Beneficiaries. The call is aimed at those who have been enrolled in the 2022-2023 academic year or in the 2023-2024 academic year in degree or master's studies at Spanish universities. Second. Object. Awarding of prizes for relevant scientific or technological research work carried out by students. Third. Regulatory bases. Order ECI/1305/2005, of April 20, published in the BOE on May 12, 2005. Fourth. Amount. The call will be financed from budget application 28.09.463A.488.04 of the 2025 expenditure budget of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, or equivalent from subsequent years, in accordance with availability for a maximum amount of €105,000.00. Awards announced by the Ministry: 1. Special Awards. A special “Arquímedes” prize, worth 8,000 euros. A special prize, worth 6,000 euros. 2. Awards for areas of knowledge. Four first prizes, worth 6,000 euros each. Four second prizes, worth 4,000 euros each. 3. Accésits, to the works with the next best grades. Four second prizes plus, worth 3,000 euros each. Eleven second prizes, worth 2,000 euros each. 4. Awards for tutoring work. Up to a maximum of six prizes, worth 2,000 euros each, to the university professors who have tutored each of the works awarded with the four first prizes and the two special prizes. 5. Prize for the memory of stay at the CSIC that receives the highest score, if any, worth 3,000 euros. 6. Prize for the best research work on cancer, awarded by the “Vencer el Cancer” Foundation, consisting of three prizes: A prize of 1,000 euros for the best research work on cancer. Two second prizes of 500 euros each for the other two best-rated projects on the same topic. 7. Stays Up to a maximum of 3 works for its participants to carry out a training stay in the centers and laboratories of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). Fifth. Application submission deadline. The deadline for submitting applications will be twenty business days from the day following the publication of the extract of this Order in the “Official State Gazette”. Sixth. Documentation to present. Applications must be completed at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Applicants must provide the following: A scientific article, summary of a research work, which may not exceed 50,000 characters (not counting spaces, drawings, images and bibliographic references). They must also provide: Curriculum Vitae of the tutor or tutors, if the work has been supervised, in a standardized abbreviated format (CVA) and referring exclusively to the last 5 years. Responsible declaration regarding the authorship of the work. Contribution to the work of other co-authors who do not participate in the contest. Academic certificates of each of the authors of the work. Responsible declaration regarding compliance with the requirements contained in article 4 of this call.
