Official description of the call
FIRST. - PURPOSE The purpose of this call is to establish the regulation and rules that must govern participation in the awards of the XXVIII “Ciudad de Coria” International Guitar Competition 2025, and the obligations that arise from it. SECOND. - BENEFICIARIES OF THE CALL Students enrolled in the “Ciudad de Coria” 2025 International Guitar Festival may be beneficiaries of these awards. THIRD. - DURATION “Junior” Competition: Date: August 7, 2025 “Senior” Competition: Eliminatory Test: August 6, 2025 Semifinal Test: August 7, 2025 Final: August 8, 2025 FOURTH. - PARTICIPATION All guitarists registered in the following modalities may participate: MODALITY A: ACTIVE STUDENT. MODALITY B: STUDENT LISTENER + COMPETITION. The student who won first prize in previous editions will be excepted. The Contest will have two categories: “Junior” Contest and “Senior” Contest. Each contestant may participate in only one category. “Junior” Contest - Age: Up to 18 years old. Participants may not have reached the age of 19 during the competition. - The Contestants will perform a free program with a maximum time of 15 minutes. “Senior” Competition It will consist of three phases: Eliminatory, Semifinal and Final. - Eliminatory phase a) A work will be performed to choose from the following: A movement from the “Black Decameron”, by Leo Brouwer. A prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach. A study or a prelude by Héctor Villa-Lobos. Variations on a theme by Mozart. Op. 9 by Fernando Sor (without repetitions). “In Praise of Dance”, by L. Brouwer. “In the wheat fields”, by Joaquín Rodrigo. A trifle by Willian Walton. A sonata by Domenico Scarlatti. b) In addition, one or more works of free choice will be performed. The maximum duration of the eliminatory phase will be 10 minutes. - Semifinal phase A free repertoire will be performed whose duration will not exceed 20 minutes. In the semi-final phase, works already performed in the eliminatory phase cannot be performed. - Final phase A free repertoire will be performed whose duration will not exceed 25 minutes. In the final phase, works already performed in the eliminatory and semi-final phases cannot be performed. Contestants will be obliged to respect the maximum duration established for each of the tests. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt the participant only if he or she exceeds the allowed time. FIFTH. - APPLICATIONS People interested in participating in the 2025 “Ciudad de Coria” International Guitar Competition Awards must complete the form published on the Festival website www.guitarracoria.com, which also appears as Annex I to this call. Applications will be directed to the Mayor's Office of the City Council, and will be presented in the General Entry Registry of the City Council or by any of the means indicated in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, from the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province until July 22, 2024, inclusive, only in the case of requesting registration in the modality A (Active Student, with or without Competition); or until July 29, 2025, inclusive, in the case of requesting registration in modality B (Listener, with or without Competition). The following documents must be attached to the application: Documents that prove the personality of the applicant and, where applicable, the representation of the person signing the application: photocopy of NIF / Passport. Responsible declaration that the applicant does not have any of the circumstances that prevent obtaining the status of beneficiary of public subsidies, established in article 13 of the General Law of Subsidies. Legal authorization of the father, mother or guardian, in the case of participation in the contest by a minor, according to Annex II. SIXTH. - COMPETENT BODY FOR THE INSTRUCTION AND RESOLUTION OF THE PROCEDURE The competent body for the investigation of the file will be the personnel designated for this purpose by the Department of Culture, in this case personnel attached to the Municipal School of Music. SEVENTH. - EVALUATION CRITERIA Different aspects of the participants' interpretation will be analyzed, such as: musicality, phrasing, articulation, sound, technical mastery of the instrument, ability to communicate with each other.
