ANNOUNCEMENT Bases of the Script Contest for Short Films, within the Quartmetratges festival On March 26, 2024, the Local Government Board of the Quart de Poblet City Council approved the Regulatory Bases of the Script Contest for Short Films, within the Quartmetratges festival, in accordance with the provisions of art. 9.2 of Law 38/2003 of November 17, General Subsidies. 1.- Purpose The Quart de Poblet City Council organizes the Short Film Script Contest, within the QUARTMETRATGES Festival, whose purpose is to continue supporting the initiatives of young short film scriptwriters from the Valencian Community. 2.- Requirements. All people born or residing in the Valencian Community may participate, with a maximum of two (2) works. The works must be unpublished, with a completely free theme. Its length must be adjusted to a maximum of 30 minutes in length once it is filmed. The scripts submitted may not have competed in previous editions of this contest, nor may they have been used in any production released prior to the end of the deadline for submitting works. The works may be presented in Valencian or Spanish. Only the literary script will be evaluated. 3.- Instructing body The instructing body of these bases is the Department of Culture of the Quart de Poblet City Council. 4.-Prizes and evaluation criteria. A prize will be awarded for the best script in Spanish and another for the best script in Valencian. The financial amount of these awards will be established in the contest announcement. The prizes will be subject to the corresponding income tax withholdings. The jury will evaluate the participating works based on artistic criteria, taking into account mainly their quality, development, consistency, originality and values they transmit, up to a maximum of 10 points, which will serve to motivate their resolution proposal, awarding the prizes to the works with the highest score. a) The artistic quality and originality of the script will be valued with a maximum of 4 points. b) The literary and grammatical quality of the script, and that it is adjusted to the film script format standards, will be valued with a maximum of 2 points. c) The structure of the script, the coherence in the development of the plot and its feasibility when it comes to being filmed will be valued with a maximum of 3 points. d) The definition, depth and evolution of the characters will be valued with a maximum of 1 point. In the event of a tie, the exaequo prize may be awarded, the amount being distributed among the works tied in score. 5.- Place and deadline for presentation of works. The works may be presented within the deadline established in the call through the following means: a) In person: at the General Registry of the Quart de Poblet City Council.
