Official description of the call
PURPOSE The purpose of these rules is to regulate, under a competitive competition regime, the process for the award of the XXXVIII Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón Poetry Prize 2025. PARTICIPANTS All people over 18 years of age may attend this contest, as long as they have not been awarded in one of the five previous editions of the prize, PRIZE EQUITY The XXXVIII Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón Poetry Prize has a financial award of two thousand five hundred euros (€2,500). Furthermore, the award-winning work will be published, with the sponsorship of the Dodro City Council, within the year following the award decision. CANDIDATURES The works submitted to the XXXVIII Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón Poetry Prize must meet the following requirements: They must consist of works of poetry written in the Galician language, in their entirety or principally, in accordance with current official regulations. They must be original works, completely unpublished, not awarded in other competitions and that lack publication commitments with any publisher. Participating persons will have the obligation to notify the Dodro City Council of the granting of any prize awarded to the work presented. If this situation occurs, you will be excluded from the competition. The collections of poems will be free in theme and form. They will have a minimum length of 500 verses and a maximum of 800. The works will have a title and a motto or pseudonym of the author. Each candidate may only submit a single collection of poems to the contest. The originality of the work and its authorship will be justified by means of a responsible declaration in which they will declare that they are the author and owner of all rights. Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of these rules and, in those cases not foreseen, what the jury decides will be followed. METHOD OF PRESENTATION OF APPLICATIONS The collections of poems will be presented in digital format, using a memory stick or CD, accompanied by an escrow or sealed envelope in which the title and motto will appear. The works, with the escrow, will be sent by postal mail to the following address, without indicating the sender: XXXVIII Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón Poetry Prize Concello de Dodro Tallós, 32 15981 Dodro-A Coruña SUBMISSION DEADLINE The deadline for submitting works will be open from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña, and will end on October 20, 2025. PUBLICATION OF THE REGULATORY RULES The regulatory bases of the XXXVIII Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón Poetry Prize were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña n°162 dated 08/27/2025 COMPOSITION OF THE JURY. DELIBERATION AND RULING The jury will be made up of five members, the president being the mayor of the Corporation and the secretary being the Councilor for Culture and Heritage, who will act without voice and without vote. The remaining members, three members, will be people of recognized objectivity and competence in the genre of poetry, as well as in literary criticism. The jury's deliberations will be secret and it will have the power to declare the prize void. The jury's decision will be unappealable.
