Official description of the call
1. OBJECT The Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert, Autonomous Body of the Provincial Council of Alicante, in accordance with its own purposes, convenes the XXVI Contemporary Art Meetings Competition (EAC-2026), in a competitive competition regime, with the aim of encouraging, promoting and disseminating the development of art and plastic and visual creation. In this sense, the competition maintains two aspects, the development of a group exhibition at the Museum of the University of Alicante including the exhibition catalogue, and the financial award of €14,000 divided into three prizes. 2. PARTICIPANTS The contest is aimed at creators of contemporary art of any origin, who may enter the contest individually or collectively and with the presentation of a single work. Participation will be on a personal basis, and cannot be represented by third parties. Artists or groups that have received an award in the previous call will not be able to present. 3. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORKS. The works must be recently created. The techniques, themes and formats will be free, only conditional on their exhibition being viable. 4. PRIZES The competition has a financial award of €14,000.00, charged to budget application 03.334.4810000 of the 2026 expenditure budget, divided into three prizes: €8,500 First Prize Eusebio Sempere €3,000 Second Prize €2,500 Third Prize The amounts of the prizes will be subject to the provisions of the legislation current regarding withholding of the I.R.P.F. 5. DOCUMENTATION TO SUBMIT: 1 - Application/Registration Form with the required data. 2 - Copy of D.N.I. or equivalent. 3 - Curriculum vitae of the author or authors summarized on one A4 size page, maximum length, Times New Roman font, font size 12, divided into the following sections: training; scholarships; prizes; individual exhibitions; collective exhibitions. 4 - An explanatory report of the proposal for the work, with a maximum of 300 words, signed by the interested party and/or representative. 5 - Photographs of the work: A maximum of 3 images. The piece must be accompanied by its corresponding complete technical sheet. In the case of mixed technique, the processes and materials must be specified. In the case of “variable measurements” it is mandatory to specify a proposed size for display. 6 - The artists will provide a sworn declaration stating the availability of the works for exhibition during the period of the collective exhibition (from May to July 2026). 6. SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS. Applications will be formalized on the registration form, the model of which will be available along with the Contest Rules, at the headquarters of the Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture, as well as on its website: http:/www.iacjuangilalbert.com. Applications for participation will be submitted electronically or in person. The deadline for submitting applications will be thirty business days counting from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province, through the National Subsidies Database, once the text of the call and the information required for its publication have been submitted to it. 7. EVALUATION CRITERIA TO BE PART OF THE COLLECTIVE SAMPLE. In accordance with the documentation provided by interested parties, indicated in the FIFTH base, the works and authors that will be part of the collective exhibition of this edition will be selected, which will take place at the Museum of the University of Alicante in 2026, in accordance with the following criteria: ►Artistic proposal: 80%. ►Statement and Curriculum Vitae: 20%. 8. EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR AWARDING THE PRIZES Once the assembly has been completed with the works arranged in the exhibition hall, the Jury will meet again with the purpose of assessing the artistic, technical, conceptual quality and creative significance of their contemporaneity, and award the prizes, being able, where appropriate, to leave the competition totally or partially void, through reasoned exposition. 9. JURY The evaluation of the applications submitted to the competition will be carried out by a Jury appointed by resolution of the Vice-Presidency of the Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture, made up of specialist members and art experts.
