Official description of the call
First.- Beneficiaries Individual researchers, research groups, universities, public institutions, data protection authorities, international organizations, companies and private entities with headquarters or main activity in Latin American countries will be eligible for the award. Second.- Object Its objective is to recognize and promote scientific, technical and institutional cooperation in matters of privacy and data protection in the Ibero-American space. The following may deserve this award: – Relevant research in the legal, technical or interdisciplinary field, carried out in Latin American countries, that represents a significant contribution to the knowledge or practice of data protection. – Projects, activities or institutional strategies of a public or private nature regarding data protection that have a connection with the work of the AEPD or with joint actions within the framework of the RIPD or other cooperation networks. – Sets of outstanding actions by researchers, professionals or institutions, as long as they are presented with an integrative report and objective evidence of results, impacts or innovations. – Technical documents, guides, protocols, observatories or practical tools that have verifiably contributed to the culture of privacy or the effective exercise of rights in Latin America. Third.- Regulatory bases Resolution, of July 8, 2026, of the Spanish Data Protection Agency by which the regulatory bases are approved and the Award for the work of the Data Protection Delegate is announced, for the year 2026, published on the website of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es). Fourth.- Prize The prize will consist of a financial prize of three thousand euros (€3,000.00) and a second prize of one thousand five hundred euros (€1,500.00). It will be the jury's discretion to grant or not grant said second prize. As an alternative to the above, the jury may propose an award “ex aequo” to two candidates. In this case, neither the prize nor the second prize would be awarded and the financial award will be two thousand two hundred and fifty euros (€2,250.00) for each winning candidate. In the event that the jury declares the prize void, it may propose granting an additional second prize worth one thousand five hundred euros (€1,500.00). Fifth.- Application submission deadline Applications must be submitted from the day following the date of publication of these bases in the Official State Gazette. The deadline for submitting works will end on October 15, 2026.
