Official description of the call
The purpose of this call is to establish the rules that must govern the granting of financial awards intended to reward the efforts made by entrepreneurial individuals and entities (startups) in the city of Valencia. Ten categories are established, whose prize will be awarded by the Valencian Community Foundation for Strategic Promotion, Development and Urban Innovation, for the winning startup of each of them: Special category Best Startup 2024. Award for the best startup in the city of Valencia. The award includes a financial award of €10,000 Special category Best Startup Seed 2024. Award for the best startup in the seed phase in the city of Valencia. The award includes a financial award of €10,000 Sectoral categories 2024. Awards for the best startups, according to sectoral category, in the city of Valencia. The award includes a financial award of €5,000 for each of the winners of the following sectoral categories detailed below: Best Startup Sustainability 2024 (Startups focused on solutions for the circular economy, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, green spaces and biodiversity and other solutions focused on improving sustainability at a global level) Best AI Startup 2024 (Startups focused on promoting enabling technologies such as AI for development economic and social, focusing on improving the quality of life of citizens and the development of ethical AI) Best Startup Health & Wellbeing 2024 (Startups focused on innovative technological solutions that improve the quality of life of people in the field of health and well-being) Best Startup Gaming / Entertainment / eSports 2024 (startups focused on the development of video games and esports, projects that are in the betting sector not being eligible) Best Startup Innovative & sustainable Tourism 2024 (startups focused on the development of solutions focused on the development of more innovative and sustainable tourism) Best Startup Diversity 2024 (startups focused on social inclusion, encouraging the participation of all actors in society, regardless of sexual and gender diversities, ethnic origin, age, functional diversity or any other condition) Best Startup GovTech / Smart City 2024 (startups focused on improving the relationship Administration-Citizenship through disruptive technologies that solve real problems of the city and municipal services) Best Startup Talent/Edtech 2024 (startups focused on promoting digital, innovative, business and technological talent, as an engine of the new economy) The maximum amount destined to attend these awards amounts to a total of €60,000 charged to the 2024 budget of the Valencian Community Foundation for Strategic Promotion, Development and Urban Innovation. The prizes will be awarded according to the categories and amounts detailed below: Special category Best startup seed 2024. €10,000 Special category Best startup seed 2024. €10,000 Sector categories. €5,000 for each of the 8 sectoral categories: - Best Startup Sustainability 2024 - Best Startup IA 2024 - Best Startup Health & Wellbeing 2024 - Best Startup Gaming / Entertainment / eSports 2024 - Best Startup Innovative & sustainable tourism 2024 - Best Startup Diversity 2024 - Best Startup GovTech / Smart City 2024Best Startup Talent/Edtech 2024 Candidate startups will only be eligible for one sector category. The jury may reassign the sectoral categories to which the candidates are registered, without under any circumstances undermining the interests of the reassigned applicants, and this circumstance must be communicated to them. The amount to be received by the winners is subject to tax withholdings, in accordance with current legislation. All taxes levied on the receipt of the prizes will be the responsibility of the winners, without prejudice, therefore, to the applicable withholding tax. The fiscal repercussions that obtaining the prize has on the tax status of the winner will be borne by the winner, so the Foundation of the Valencian Community for Strategic Promotion, Development and Urban Innovation is exonerated from any responsibility in this regard.
