REGULATORY RULES AND CALL FOR THE 10TH MAY 2025 CONTEST IN THE FLOWER FESTIVAL

Official description of the call
1st) All persons (natural or legal) who previously submit their registration via electronic office (https://sede.arteixo.org/sxc/eres/) or at the SM of Culture, before 2:00 p.m. on May 16, 2025, may take part. 2nd) Two modalities are established: - Traditional May: is one that represents pyramids, cones or cruises. Its measurements must range between 1.5 and 2.00 meters high to be placed, if necessary, on a base provided by the City Council of a maximum of 2x3 m. The materials used must be natural, traditional and typical of Galicia: wood, esparto bags, moss, broom, uces, carquesias, galls, wild flowers, fruits... - Artistic May: this is what recreates everyday scenes, monuments, works of art or the free representation of May, being able to use any type of material. Its measurements must range between 1.5 and 2.00 meters in height to be placed, if necessary, on a base that will be provided by the City Council of a maximum of 2x3 m. The constructions submitted to the contest must have a name and be made entirely for the occasion and cannot contain anything that identifies the competing author. 3rd) The City Council will appoint a qualifying jury whose decision will be final, chaired by the Councilor for Culture or the person to whom she delegates and consisting of 3 members of recognized solvency designated by the Department of Culture. One of the workers from the Ministry of Culture of the Arteixo City Council will act as secretary, with voice and without vote, and will draw up minutes. 4ª) The jury will evaluate the best Mays, awarding the following prizes, which cannot be cumulative: -Traditional May Prize: €400 -Artistic May Prize: €400 -Special Prize for educational centers: €400 5ª) In addition, this department will award up to 10 second prizes of €100.00 after verification and study by the competent jury that the May is properly prepared. 6th) The jury will deliberate and issue its opinion at the end of the review and verification of the mayonnaise submitted to the contest, exhibited in the place determined by the Organization, for which it will take into account the uniqueness of the mayonnaise, the originality of the recreated idea, the manufacturing materials, the artisanal construction along with its complexity and finishes and the agreement with the idea presented. The jury may declare any of the prizes void and the amount may be allocated to another category as a special prize. Its resolution will be final. 7th) Each assessment criterion will be scored as follows: 0 points: lacking; 1 point: bad; 2 points: average and 3 points: good. The total sum of each criterion and all the members of the jury will establish the order of the awards. In the case of a tie, the Jury President will decide. 8th) The Mayos must arrive at the location (Avenida del Balneario) around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 23, and they will be positioned in the place indicated by the organization. They must remain in the same place until the City Council decides. 9th) The awards ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Balneario and if it rains in the Chapel. 10th) The number of Mays may not exceed 22, so they will be admitted in strict order of registration, limiting participation in educational centers to 1 May per educational stage and center (EI, EP, ESO, Baccalaureate, middle cycle and higher cycle of professional education). 11ª) Registrations must be sent to the SM of Culture (Centro Cívico Cultural. Paseo Fluvial s/n) within the established deadline. 12th) Participation in this contest implies acceptance of these rules. Questions of doubt, interpretation or unforeseen events that arise during its development will be resolved by the Department of Culture.
