XIX International Compostela Prize for Illustrated Albums The Department of Education of the City Council of Santiago de Compostela, in collaboration with Kalandraka Editora, announces the XIX International COMPOSTELA Prize for Illustrated Albums, according to the following bases: 1. All works that can be included in the illustrated album category will be eligible for the XIX International COMPOSTELA Prize for Illustrated Albums: a book not in which the story is told through images or images and texts, in such a way that both texts complement each other. 2. The bases of this call are intended to promote artistic and literary production aimed at children and adolescents. 3. The works may be presented in calquera of the official languages of the Iberian Peninsula and must be original and unpublished. Those that are adapted from original works or works that have been awarded in our competitions will not be admitted. Works containing more than three illustrations published on the Internet will also not be admitted, as well as xerated works, created or adapted by artificial intelligence technology. 4. One or several people, authors of text and illustration of calquera nationale, may participate. Winners of previous editions and workers or extra-workers of the Kalandraka publishing house will be excluded. 5. Projects may be presented in chart size, technique and format, but the length must not exceed 40 inside pages (without counting pages or covers). 6. Authors competing for the prize must present: • Five copies of the text. • Three original illustrations and five photocopies of each of them. If digital technique is used, high resolution prints of the work will be accepted. • A finished model of the project being presented: a printed version with design, text and illustrations, or as similar as possible to what the finished book will be. 7. The works must not appear in the names of the authors, without a motto or pseudonym. The personal data of the participating persons will be collected on a specific note: the title of the work and the motto or pseudonym must not be indicated on the exterior, and the interior or complete names, postal address, contact telephone number and electronic address must not be indicated. Inside the envelope will also be included a complete photocopy of your ID or passport, as well as a brief biographical summary. 8. The works will be sent or delivered at the General Registry of the Council of Santiago de Compostela (rúa do Presidente Salvador Allende, 4, 15705 Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Spain). Do not over-specify "XIX COMPOSTELA International Prize for Illustrated Albums." Envelopes delivered through shipping agencies must not appear with the authors' names. 9. The deadline for submission of the original documents is opened with the publication of these bases in the Official Gazette of the Province of Coruña and ends on May 15, 2026. The postal seal of two works submitted by mail or by courier companies cannot be later than the date of the last day of delivery. The decision of the jury will be made public in the last fortnight of June 2026. 10. The jury will be made up of people of recognized prestige in the area of literature and illustration who, based on their technical criteria, will select the award-winning work. It will act as secretary to the person designated by the organizing entities. The prize may be declared void and the jury's decision will be unappealable. 11. A single prize is established, worth €9,000. The prize is subject to any withholdings that, if applicable, apply. The amount of the prize will not be made effective until the author or authors deliver the finished work for its publication. The award-winning work will be published in Galician, Catalan, Basque, Spanish and Portuguese by the Kalandraka publishing house in November 2026 and, for this purpose, the corresponding publishing contracts will be signed. Likewise, the publisher will have priority in publishing those works that receive special mention from the jury. This right will be valid for one year, after which the author(s) will be able to freely dispose of their works. 12. The author (or authors) will transfer the rights of the first edition, secondly, the contract that will be signed with the Kalandraka publishing house must be stated. 13.
