Official description of the call
First. Purpose of the call. The Provincial Council of Valladolid announces the XI Photographic Contest of the Active and Healthy Aging Program, under the motto "Road to 100: living longer and better." The word longevity refers to the length of life, something that has been spreading practically throughout the world and since the last hundred years in a significant way. The life expectancy of the population around the world is increasing thanks to global progress, which allows people to have more and more possibilities of surviving the century of life. Therefore, reaching the milestone of one hundred years is no longer an exceptional event, but rather an achievable horizon that challenges ancient myths about old age. Becoming a centenarian depends approximately 25% on genetics and 75% on lifestyle habits and environment. For this reason, science and modern geriatrics focus on increasing healthy life expectancy, guaranteeing autonomy and quality of life. Thus, this new longevity can allow people the possibility of living this time with another intensity, motivations, projects and well-being. Under this premise, this Contest aims to learn, make visible and celebrate the route towards 100 years. Through photography, we seek to capture the stories, habits, life philosophies and support networks that build healthy and fulfilling aging. Second. Participants.
