Official description of the call
In accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies, the extract of the call is published, the full text of which can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database (http://www.pap.minhap.gob.es/bdnstrans/index): First. Beneficiaries. Any non-professional theatrical group, each group being able to present as many works as they wish, or a set of short pieces. The group must have its own legal personality or be supported by a legal entity; The possible supporting entity and the group may not have any employment relationship between them, related to the theater. The total duration of the works will not be less than one hour, nor will it exceed two hours, with total freedom of style, authors, theme, content, assembly, adaptation and staging. The text must be written in Spanish. The works will be presented to an audience without age restrictions and with the means of each group. If the works require permission from the SGAE or payment of copyright, both procedures must be covered in advance by the group. Second. Object. Promote and encourage scenic and dramatic creation among non-professional groups<(>,<)> offering all citizens the possibility of approaching theater in its broadest sense. Third. Regulatory bases. The Rules for the call for the XXI Edition of the Hortaleza Open Theater Contest will be published at www.madrid.es. And in the Official Gazette of the Madrid City Council. Room. Amount. The total amount allocated to this call amounts to 6,000.00 euros, distributed as follows: -First Prize: with a financial award of 2,800.00 €. -Second Prize: with a financial prize of €1,600.00. -Third Prize: with a financial prize of €1,000.00. -Public Award: with a financial prize of €600.00. Fifth. Application submission deadline. They may be submitted from the day following the publication of the rules of this call for Awards in the Official Gazette of the Madrid City Council until June 30, 2026. Sixth. Other data. The XXI Edition of the Hortaleza Open Theater Contest will consist of two phases: Pre-selection and Performances. It will take place in the Auditorium of the Carril del Conde Cultural Center (c/ Carril del Conde, 57<(>,<)> 28043 Madrid) or in the Auditorium of the Sanchinarro Cultural Center (c/ Princesa de Éboli, 29<(>,<)> 28050 Madrid). (The characteristics of this space are attached in Annex I). First phase or preselection: The works will be presented through a link, whose visibility and sound must be adequate for their evaluation by the jury; Otherwise the group will be automatically rejected. Second phase or execution: Those selected will be informed of the date, place and conditions for the public performance of their work. The group that wins the first prize will be informed after the ruling and will be obliged to perform their work again at the awards ceremony, to be held, except in cases of force majeure <(>,<)> on November 14, 2026.
