3.4 CALL THAT REGULATES FINANCIAL AID FOR THE TREATMENT OF DRUG DEPENDENCES AND OTHER ADDICTIONS 1. Reason The purpose of this call is to regulate the financial aid that the Mondragón City Council grants to people who are undergoing treatment for drug dependency or other addictions. The Social Services Law 12/2008 of December 5 states in its article 5 that the purpose of the Basque System of Social Services is: “to promote the social integration, autonomy and social well-being of all people, families and groups, developing a promoting, preventive, protective and assistance function, through benefits and services of a fundamentally personal and relational nature.” And in article 14, it states the following about the economic benefits: “they will be aimed at facilitating the social integration and autonomy of their recipients, supporting them in their social integration process or guaranteeing coverage, temporary or permanent, of the needs derived from their situation of dependency or lack of protection.” Some people who begin treatment for addictions often have difficulties covering transportation costs to go to the treatment center, basic necessities, or expenses derived from the social integration process itself. Types of aid The aid will be used to cover travel expenses to go to treatment, basic necessities and expenses derived from the social integration process, during the period that the applicant is in treatment (in the reception, community and integration phases). 5. Requirements The applicant must be registered in Mondragón at the time of submitting the application for financial aid. Financial aid may be requested after one month of staying in the treatment program. The grant will be retroactive to the date of the start of the treatment, as long as the minimum period of one month occurs within the year of the aid call. 6.
