Official description of the call
1.Object and purpose of the call. The District of Salamanca establishes the bases by which the call for the Second Edition of the “Carmen Martín Gaite” Literary Contest will be governed, in a competitive competition regime in the short story modality. 2.Applicable legal regime. This call will be governed by the provisions of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies (B.O.E. 18-11-2003). Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21, which approves the Regulation of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies (B.O.E. 7-25-2006). The first additional provision of the Ordinance of General Regulatory Bases for the Granting of Subsidies by the City Council of Madrid and its Public Bodies, of October 30, 2013, modified by the Agreement of the Plenary of the City Council of Madrid, of May 31, 2017 and Ordinance 3/2023, of November 28, which modifies the Ordinance of Regulatory Bases for the Granting of Subsidies of the City Council of Madrid and its Public Bodies, of October 30, 2013, as well as what is included in this call. 3.Participants and categories. People of legal age, regardless of their nationality, who present original, unpublished works, not awarded in other competitions and written in Spanish, may participate in this contest in one of the following categories: a) Short story at national level, intended for any person residing in Spain who has reached the age of majority at the time of submitting their work. b)Short story for people registered in the district of Salamanca and who have reached the age of majority at the time of presenting their work. Participants may only enter one of the two categories. Members of the Jury or employees of the Madrid City Council or any public body linked to the Corporation may not participate. Participation in this call implies acceptance of these rules and the unappealable ruling of the Jury. 4.Financial award and prizes. The prizes awarded under this call will be attributed to the credit included in item 2026/001/204/G/33401/48203 "Cultural activities. Prizes". The total amount allocated to this call amounts to 7,000.00 euros. Categories: a) Short story at national level -------------------------------------------------------- 3,500.00 euros. b)Short story finalist at national level --------------------------------------------- 1,000.00 euros. c) Short story for authors registered in the District of Salamanca ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- 2,000.00 euros. d) Short story finalist for authors registered in the District of Salamanca ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- 500.00 euros. 5.Requirements of the works. The technical characteristics of the works to be presented are established as follows: ·Short story. ·Maximum 10 pages, in DIN A4 size (210 x 297 mm), including the cover. ·Free theme. ·Type: Times New Roman, 12 points. ·Line spacing: 1.5. ·Margins 2.5. Original works must be submitted under a pseudonym, indicating on the first page the title of the work, the pseudonym and the category in which they participate (national or registered authors). Each participant may only present one work in one of the categories (residents anywhere in Spain or residents registered in the District of Salamanca), excluding those who present more works than allowed or in more than one category. The works will be original and unpublished. Works that have been submitted to previous editions of this contest or that have received any public or private award, nor that have been published in physical or digital format, may not be submitted. Nor may works be submitted that are pending a decision in any other competition at the time of submitting the application. Furthermore, with the submission, the applicant acquires the commitment not to submit the same text to other contests until this award has been awarded. In the event that the work was published or awarded during the course of the contest, the participant will have to communicate this, in order to withdraw it from this edition. Likewise, works generated totally or partially by artificial intelligence programs will be excluded. TO
