Official description of the call

First.- Purpose The Pontevedra City Council establishes this award call with the aim of energizing and promoting reading and promoting the use of the Galician language as an activity of social interest. The purpose of these rules is to regulate the procedure for granting the VI María Victoria Moreno Youth Literature Prize, which will be held during this year 2023. Second.- Beneficiaries Any person who presents unpublished writings of their authorship written in the Galician language and with a maximum length of 250,000 characters may participate in the VI María Victoria Moreno Youth Literature Prize. Third.- Regulatory bases The granting of the prize that is the subject of these bases will be governed by the provisions of the General Ordinance regulating subsidies of the Pontevedra City Council, approved by the Plenary Session of the Corporation in the session of 09/17/2004 (BOP no. 190 of 09/30/2004), by Law 38/2003 of November 17, general of subsidies, by the Regulation that develops the previous one, approved by Royal Decree 887/2006, of November 17, and by Law 9/2007 on subsidies of Galicia, and other applicable regulations. Fourth.- Amount For the award of the prize object of this call, the global credit of €4,000.00 will be allocated to the budget application 09.3342-48100 of the expenditure budget for the year 2023. Fifth.- Procedure The originals will be presented in PDF format, recorded in an external memory, laid out in DIN-A4 format, in Times font or similar, size 12 and double spaced. They will be accompanied by a sealed envelope that will contain the identity of the author (full name, address, telephone number and email) and the final title of their work, stating on the outside "VI María Victoria Moreno Youth Literature Prize" and its title or motto. Sixth.- Registration The registration period to participate in the contest will be from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province, until 30 calendar days after the aforementioned publication. The originals must be delivered to the Pazo de la Cultura of Pontevedra, Rúa de Alexandre Bóveda, s/n, 36.005 Pontevedra. Seventh.- Qualifying jury The Jury will be made up of a person representing María Victoria Moreno's family, a person representing the Pontevedra City Council and a person representing Cuarto de Inverno. The Jury's decision will take place in Pontevedra during the year 2023. Eighth.- Prize The winning work will be awarded with the publication of the book and €4,000.00 to be paid by the Pontevedra City Council. Cuarto de Inverno, through a private contract with the author, will be in charge of editing and publishing it in the Galician language, being the owner of the rights for the following five years after the award of the prize. The beneficiary of the prize will receive 20 copies of the published work free of charge and will be entitled to a proportional participation in the income derived from the exploitation of the work. Ninth.- Taxes levied on the receipt of the prize All taxes levied on the receipt of the prize will be borne by the winner. In accordance with current Spanish legislation, the prize awarded in the Contest will be subject to personal income tax withholding, which will be assumed by the winner. The other fiscal repercussions that obtaining the prize has on the tax status of the awarded person will be at their expense, so the Pontevedra City Council is exonerated from any responsibility in this regard. Payments will be made against a fiscally recognized document in any of the following three languages: Galician, Spanish or English. Tenth.- Rights of the convening entities The convening entities reserve the right to publish, along with the ruling, the mottos of the finalist works whose publication was recommended to the Jury, but without opening the escrow, in order to respect their anonymity. The authors of the aforementioned works who wish to do so may contact Cuarto de Inverno to discuss the issue of publication through the email info@cuartodeinverno.com. Eleventh.- Literary quality of the works If the literary quality of the works is not estimated, according to the criteria of the jury, the prize may be declared void.
